yeah, yet another show where the male characters are funny and the chicks are annoying. (yes, i've watched a few eps)

QFT. Frasier was VERY well written.

Seems like many folks have a hard time distinguishing between what is good or bad and what they like or don't like.

You can not like something, but recognize it is good.

Its not good or funny. I do realize that it likely appeals to the whitest, most boring, bland, cookie cutter part of the population though.

Its not as bad as some of the ones mentioned, but it is nowhere near funny.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say king of queens is a great show and a must watch sitcom. Seriously during my year with basic cable it was a go to show for me, but those were some hard times TV wise.

If you like Home Improvement, you're probably going to like King of Queens, just sayin'

I think I hate Frasier because frasier and niles are annoying pussies

Here you go-- I watched Friends when it was originally on (at least the first 3 seasons) because it was what everybody watched, especially people in their early to mid 20's. It seemed like you were required to watch.

But it is NOT funny. And now, the reruns are almost unwatchable. All of the characters are stupid in their own irritating ways. And none of the main cast are very good actors.

This. Friends was horrific!

i don't know much about the show, because i'm not sure i've ever made it through an entire episode, but "the nanny" has the most unnecessarily intricate theme song of any sitcom ever. do they really need to drag it on for a full minute to tell the whole backstory? then do it EVERY TIME the show is on?

kind of a catchy tune though.

i don't think anything was ever actually said on home improvement that made me laugh, but the physical humor is priceless. its amazing the writers were able to find so many different ways for tim "the tool man" taylor to get hurt over the course of the first 5 seasons or so. really kept it fresh. i guess it helped having an endless supply of power tools at their plot disposal.

Friends is absolutely unwatchable now. I seem to remember it being somewhat funny in its early years, but watching those episodes now is almost painful.

The first couple of seasons of Friends in like 1995-1996 were funny. As with virtually every sitcom, it went downhill from there, and in general the show was very much a product of the mid-90s and thus does not hold up well 15 years later.

In terms of sitcoms, the mid-90s is the late 80s. There's a bigger difference between sitcoms now and 15 years ago than there was between mid-90s sitcoms and early 80s sitcoms.

SEINFELD was unworthy of its unending critical praise. Not bad, certainly not great, but it was a "Night Court" show that got "Cheers" hype.

The same show about a different city wouldn't have made it five years. It was to sitcoms what Derek Jeter was to short.

How did The Nanny not make the list? Now that was a terrible show.

if it were about a different city, it wouldn't make any sense because that kind of narcissism, crudeness, and general lifestyle doesn't exist anywhere else (except maybe the ex-new yorkers in florida and LA, i.e., jerry's parents and curb).

so basically you said that if it were a show that made no sense it wouldn't have made it five years. like a show about surfers in st. louis.

baywatch would have never made it 5 years if set in minneapolis. what an average show

TO YOU, it's not good or funny.

What objective standards should we use to determine the "goodness" of a show?
