The devil never sleeps, this time it's Nice, France

Also, if the child is born in American (even as a child of an immigrant), then they have the exact same rights as you do. You can't deport somebody who is an American citizen because their parents came from a country that yielded terrorist attacks. That's blatantly unconstitutional.

I'm not pro-wall, but surely you'd admit the benefits of actually enforcing our border are not just security. The American labor market (the folks you guys on the left pretend to champion) would benefit greatly from enforcing our borders.

Don Quixote would be a great replacement for Baby Hater.

I don't think many people at all on here have said that we should not enforce our border.

I think we should do more to enforce laws that are already on the books.

I don't disagree there are areas in immigration where we could enforce laws on the books that would be helpful. I was more addressing BSF4L's apparent position (based on this post: Why not consider the children of these immigrants as well? And why not consider the costs associated with these attacks- in terms of the lives destroyed, the civl liberties lost, the financial costs, etc. And why limit it to the past few years? Your whole framing reeks of disingenuousness.) which seems to suggest that immigration at all is going to create domestic terror. I mean he's talking about not just immigrants, but kids of immigrants.

A platitude with no follow-through is not a policy.

What do you guys think of Newt's statements that any Muslim in America who believes in Sharia law should be deported? Didn't make a distinction for American citizens here (which raises a host of issues: as in you can't deport a citizen because they don't have another country to go to).

Well it sounds blatantly unconstitutional as it is a violation of the First Amendment right to freedom of religion.

Police shot and killed the truck's driver. He has been identified in French media as 31-year-old Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel. Contrary to earlier reports, he is not French-Tunisian, but a Tunisian who was in France on a residency permit. According to France's BFM-TV, he was known to police for a string of petty offenses, including theft, acts of violence involving weapons, and domestic violence. He was going through a divorce. In January, he was placed under judicial supervision after he got into a fight. One of his neighbors told BFM-TV that he was not religious and had only received his truck driver's license in the last year.

I don't understand this statement at all.

What do you suggest I do to back up my "platitude" own this case?

The first thing is probably not begin (and end) every discussion with "Ya know, we can't deport 12 million people", followed by a self-satisfied nod.

Okay, what could we do?

but once they have broken the law and are here you believe enforcing the law and deportation is racist mean and cruel. I have a hard time squaring that but Ill take your word for it.

Grant amnesty for those already here and then begin enforcing the current laws more rigorously so we don't get back to 12 million people. What do you think we could do?

This guy gets it. "Enforce the rules, just not the penalties."

I don't think Doofus believes this or has said that. I won't speak for him but I believe he just thinks it's wholly impractical to get 12 million people out of the country.

I'm with Newt. For every illegal we detain, we ship them and an OGB Dem back to his country of origin. Time to fight idiots with idiots.

I don't think I have ever started or ended a conversation with that deportation line, nor a nod of any sort.

While we are on it I will say that it is not feasible to do so, and would also leave a pretty big gap for a while before those jobs that are being done get replaced, which would in turn impact the economy more than people would think.

Ban semi automatic rifles and high capacity magazines.

how about deporting 1 million a year for 12 years?

What's the least amount of money it would cost to round up 12 million people over any time period? You can pick the time period which you believe will decrease the overall costs the most.

Trump will get them to pay for their own deportation and rounding up. Count on it.
