Model Minority Myth

BKF - Can you provide a concrete definition of "privilege" as you see it?

I fear we all may be talking past each other, and a working definition would be helpful.

You've got a few questions left unanswered on this thread, bob.

So does everyone else. Nothing new there. I want to know who these posters are, how old they are, when or if they graduated from WF, in what city they live and what kind of work they do....so I will know how to consider the validity of their posts.

We can start with you, if you like.

Graduated from Wake Forest in 2012 with a degree in Philosophy
Live in Winston, moving to Charleston in a month.
Insurance Underwriting/Account Management

I learned way more outside of the classroom at Wake Forest than I did in the classroom. I wasn't a dedicated student, but did learn a lot about time management/work ethic/self discipline that has translated into the real world. I also met a lot of people who have been outstanding contacts for networking and led to both of the jobs that I have had since I graduated.

Not really, and furthermore, I'm not really interested in doing so, anyway. You seem to actually be taking this stuff seriously. One of the nice things about posting on this board is that I don't really care what any of you young liberals think about anything....so the entire process is merely for entertainment. I'm not interested in a serious discussion with you....or these other young liberals....about anything....and I'm certainly not interested in trying to convert you. Right now, I'm watching the Bristol race and working on my weekly Fantrax lineup before the 7 PM deadline while reading posts on these threads for entertainment. If I was interested in a serious discussion, I would talk to someone like jhmd, whom I respect and whose opinions would be of interest to me.

well, this is clearly not true

lol you are such a fucking hypocritical privileged douchebag.

You have tens of thousands of posts interacting with folks on here, a lot of whom are "young liberals".

Of course you would listen to JHMD, the only concept he has ever brought forth to the boards is a two-parent household, which he espouses in almost every single post on here. Y'all would get along swimmingly.

Other than esteemed Wake Forest graduate BillBrasky who on these boards do you have in mind when talking about the lazy, party it up, millennials?

Numbers fucked around for three years after Wake just to get an elitist law degree. I'm sure he's lumped in there too.
WakePhan09 has been in school for like 25 years to get a pointless degree.

Hilarious how having a car in school is bkf's cherry picked evidence of privilege, since he was given basically everything else

Right, and this is why I wanted to hear his definition of privilege. I assume that there are some differences of opinion as to what "privilege" means.

You may have deleted them, but you have posted tens-hundreds of times about certain people not working "real jobs" in their twenties.

Somebody talked about working part-time at the YMCA. I don't consider that a real job for a college graduate. Other than that, I don't remember.

I have 4,000+ posts showing now and haven't deleted any post for nearly two years now, so if I've made "hundreds" of posts on this subject you should be able to easily find one.

I worked seasonally for the Y right after graduating. It was all I could find in my chosen career field. I was not married at the time, so I didn't have the easy out of my FIL's commercial construction company.
