Ongoing gun violence/injury thread

can always count on Chris to emerge from his hole to taunt anyone advocating real change. biggest hard on for leftists I’ve ever seen
You could just say Brasky was acting like a moron.

Brasky's already come out as a complete fraud on this thread. He's going through personal stuff and is completely unhinged and not making any ssense. I wouldn't hitch my cart to his wagon.

OK.

According to this interview, some Uvalde cops went into the school to get their own children out while barricading other parents while the shooter was killing children in one classroom.

So now the programmed response from the GOP will be "well, the good guys with a gun who were there were actually not-so-good, so MOAR GUNS."

Holy shit, that is fucking sociopathic. Did they just look at the other kids in their kids' classrooms and just say "well, good luck!"

At least one of the accounts had the cops claiming that they barricaded the shooter in the classroom where he did the shooting, so it might actually be worse.

At some point bystander parents are going to ignore the police cordons. Like passengers on jets post 9/11 with unruly/dangerous passengers

There is alot of anger at the response by the police. I have included this thread from information made earlier today.

I am going to say, the 6 minute video at the end is absolutely horrific as a parent.

I did not know Jason Whitlock followed alt-right accounts.

And at that point police will shoot one of those parents and there will be a full on riot.

Infuriating and disgusting.

The cops told kids to yell if they need help BEFORE subduing the shooter?

how are there kids still alive if he was in one room for 30-45 minutes?

*I understand in this specific circumstance the kid was openly carrying an AR-15, which makes the calculation easier, but you are still asking an LEO to shoot to kill on sight

I don't understand this statement. It is perfectly legal for an 18 year-old to open-carry an AR-15 in Texas. Why would an LEO shoot someone for doing something that is legal?

The boy who told the story was hiding under a table with a tablecloth.

They faked being dead. They laid on or near their dead classmates and pretended to be dead, too.

did you read the rest of the quote? Do you understand that part?

that said - it is unrealistic to expect a perfect response from law enforcement. you're talking about a mind-numbingly boring job for 99.9% of the time - until suddenly you get maybe 15 seconds to determine whether the guy running into the school is an imminent threat to the kids and teachers*

law enforcement is NEVER going to get this 100% right. NEVER. which is an argument not to rely on law enforcement

I was being sarcastic. Sorry, that didn't come through. I think it's absolutely absurd that an 18 year-old (or anyone) can openly carry an AR-15 without a license (or with a license) in Texas. That was the point I was trying to make.

gotcha - sorry, sarcasm meter probably a bit off due to recent events

Did they pass a law that it is legal on school grounds? Was that just for colleges?
