Forbes called Appleby the second-best point guard he's ever coached on the post-game yesterday -- don't know that he can do much to overtake Fred VanVleet in Forbes' mind -- and your solution is to move him off the ball?
 
Man, if we could swap out Carr for Tim Duncan we’d be unstoppable! Imagine that! Carr sucks!!

He’s playing PG because of necessity. Of course he’s going to pile up assists if he is the primary ball handler.

Keep Appleby outside the perimeter along with Monsanto and have a PG choose who to pass it to. Appleby can choose to shoot a 3 or drive to the lane, and Monsanto can shoot the 3.

Lots of primary ball handlers do not pile up the assists like Tyree.

He thrives when driving and either finishing or dishing/kicking out. He is elite at changing speeds when driving and is a plus plus ball handler against the press. Watching him play this year and thinking he should hang out on the perimeter is the stupidest fucking shit I’ve read on here in months.

Your missing my point. Imagine a backcourt with Appleby AND Ish or Teague or Downey or CJ Harris or CMM, etc. Appleby would not be forced to do everything by himself.

Think of some of the passes Ty makes on a regular basis - drive and alley-oops, drive and wrap-around passes to the corner or top of the key, passes to the roller on the pick-and-roll, etc. Does anybody else on our team make passes even close to that - the answer is "no." Does anybody we play against make passes similar to that - the answer is "not many at all." Do you worry Ty is going to turn the ball over when he gets it and the other team is full-court pressing - the answer again is "no." Ty is clearly a PG, and a very good one.

Ive never said Appleby can’t play PG.

Fine, if everyone wants to say Appleby is a PG, then this team is one SG away from being an NCAA Tourney Team. Swap Cam out for Grey, Dawson, O’Kelley, Braswell, and who ever else I forgot (And I left Chill out for the same reason I left CP3 out, replacing Cam with a legend is an unfair comparison.

When someone complains about Cam playing too many minutes on this year’s team and handling the ball too much, the implication is that somebody else should be doing it. Who should be replacing his minutes and ball handling?

He’s playing PG because he’s a PG. See Conor’s quote from Forbes above. If we had a better PG then only one of them would be on the court at a time.

Not only is he not someone else. He’s not someone who ends up playing in the NBA for 10 years.
Bama, let’s also not forget that Ish was not very good as a sophomore. Cam is a SOPHOMORE and is clearly a top 3 player on this team, and many nights a top 2 player.

I think if we started James Johnson on the wing it would really elevate this team on both ends of the floor. Why is Forbes not doing this?
