MBB Game 1: Elon Phoenix at WF - Monday (11/6) 8 pm ACCN+

Even when the offense was good last night, I felt like something was missing. I'm optimistic because I think there are three legitimate ways we add another dimension to the offense: (1) Monsanto returns to his normal form; (2) Parker grows into that Monsanto role, even if he's more guard than forward; or (3) Reid gets the waiver. Any one of those 3, and I think we're a much tougher team.
I see the first two happening. If #3 goes through................oh my 🙏

I was also encouraged by the play of the two freshmen. MMM is clearly more college-ready than Bobi was at the beginning of the year, but I hope it doesn't take him as long to find his offensive game. Parker is going to be a contributor all year. He made a couple mistakes on defense but it was not for lack of effort.

Im really glad i did not watch this live. Especially the first half. After the football season we are having, this season opening game would have sent a fist through the drywall.

Parker could be really good. Thinking a Tyler Herro type player, even if he gets halfway to that we've got something there.

The number one thing that stood out to me from both Parker and Marion was they seemed composed and aware of where they were positionally on the court. Yes Parker got burnt a couple times back door, but when he had the ball he wasn't frantic and looking to chuck, he was looking to pass, and on the drive to the basket, he had an initial opportunity to shoot but looked up saw what was going on and got in for the easy basket (with a nice finish to boot). His handle was better than I expected and he was trying VERY hard on every defensive possession - which led to an off ball foul and the aforementioned beat on the back door by over pursuing up top.

Marion definitely strikes me as a glue guy who is a bit raw, but again, he was a guy who was generally where he was supposed to be which adds tons of value on the glass - especially if you've got good hands/a nose for the ball. I think he's gonna need to keep bulking up and work on his touch inside, but yeah...potential for days.

Excited about these two guys and interested to see how they stack up overall against better talent. There will always be some learning curves but I'm cautiously optimistic with sample size one

Boopie's shot puts a weird spin on the ball. He definitely seemed like he was pushing it a little too much in the first half and then he settled down in the second half.

So, when appealing an NCAA waiver denial, does that mean you "kept some powder dry" during seeking it initially, or, is it more a matter of needing to see the NCAA's reasons for denial, and then acting specifically on that?

That whole process needs to be more transparent, IMO.

Right now I would characterize MMM as disruptive to the flow of the opponent's offense. Pass has to be a second or two later than planned or a few feet off ideal line because he has a hand in the way. When the offense isn't smooth, the shots are not as open and high quality.

If the Tez Walker situation is any evidence, you just whine to as many media outlets as possible about how unjust it is until the NCAA caves.
