MBB Game 8: Rutgers at WF - Wednesday 6 pm ACCN

Are you done claiming that Marsh is a good player and is just limited by the offensive system?

I’ve always been hopeful, just have been frustrated by how bad Marsh is and how it limited our team. So yea, I'll be done "slamming" Marsh assuming he doesn't play anymore this year.
I was there and I was curious about how he would react to this so I watched his reactions from time to time as the game played out. Marsh seems to be a really good dude and a hell of a teammate and was super involved instead of pouty about his situation.

Not a great crowd by any stretch but that picture appears to have been taken at opening tip (6pm) before a substantial number of folks arrived (which is a whole other issue)
It got better, but not much.

Whenever they showed him on the bench on tv he was clapping/being enthusiastic/talking to teammates.

I could be wrong, but I believe Marsh is still going to have a role on this team, especially when we match up against big traditional center types like Bacot, but his minutes will probably be quite limited. I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do when he's not expected to carry the load / be the guy at center. I think he could be effective if we could still do the rim runners / lobs that he and Tyree seemed to perfect last year.

Nice performance last night by the Deacs. It seemed like everybody had a little extra spring in their step as a result of Efton being cleared to play. And he was obviously happy to be out there too. He didn't shoot it well, but he was the obvious athletic presence that we expected to have out there and he made a big difference all around.

If Monsanto can come back and just give us an outside presence, we will be a pretty complete team.

Not much more to be said on Efton that hasn't been said. One thing I can tell is that everyone on the team seems to like him, he talks with them all, just seems like a good guy to be around, and that matters.

We are such a different team with him, it completely reinforces our post play. We don't need him taking the hook shots much etc, but just clean up the glass, get some easy buckets, alter shots and the ceiling of the team is so much higher.
Marsh is effectively done I think. He will play a small role, in foul trouble circumstances etc, but he shouldn't take many if any minutes from Carr/Reid/MMM/Keller (Can't beleive I'm saying that). But honestly Keller looked so much more composed last night. I think he felt more relaxed in a smaller role and doesn't feel like he has to anchor our D anymore. Put that under something to watch going forward.

Guard wise, we are so lucky. Boopie and Hunter are such good additions. They can both go on shooting runs at any time, both play great D. Boopie makes plays out of nowhere, he is so fun to watch. Cam is cam, he's a dog. Gonna make plays every night, compete with anyone, those three are such a good foundation. Now the big ? is Damari, if he comes back close to last year, watch out. This is not a bubble team. If parker can add a couple threes a game too, man we are going to be so hard to defend. I am really excited again after watching them play last night, need to just cruise through Christmas now, big victories, get fully healthy and come to fucking play in 2024. Take all doubt away, this team can do it.

Cam is one of the best finishers in the paint of anybody I remember playing for us. Hunter is also very good there and that mid-range jumpshot.

I didn't watch Tyree before last year but Boopie definitely seems like he could develop and maybe even surpass what a fifth year Tyree looked like.

It's kind of cool that our 3 backcourt starters all have a very different offensive style. Boopie is more of a drive/layup guy who draws a bunch of fouls; Hunter has the very nice pullup jumper; Cam has the post moves and hits a ton of reverse layups and unbalanced shots. I'm sure that the variety makes things more difficult on a defense.

I know ticket pricing is different and people that paid higher prices would be pissed but I feel like for games where there are that many empty seats they need to just tell the fans in the upper tier to filter down closer to the court and then just close the upper sections, would help the atmosphere a lot.
For the NIT game a few years ago they didn’t even sell upper level tickets, and every lower bowl ticket was $15. Thats what we should be doing for nonconference games.

That’s why I can’t justify buying season tickets. Why pay so much when most of the home games you can buy the cheapest ticket and seat wherever you want.

I think Miller is more polished than Appleby, but not nearly as fast. But he has a fun game to watch. The ball is on a string most of the time.
