I see the "it seems strange to win a game and move down in the rankings" a lot, and I don't understand why it's so confusing. I'm not sure if us being bad for so long has warped people's brains a bit, but when you are a good team you have higher expectations than "just win".
Nobody here would think it's weird that we moved down if we beat Louisville by 1, why does beating State by 4 prompt confusion? The spread was -8.5 and we won by 4, of course we moved down. State played us tough, no doubt, but they just aren't very good. We ARE good, so more is expected of us.
It makes perfect sense to me that State moved up and we moved down - we didn't do what was expected. The good news is that we don't need helps from a metrics standpoint imo. Just get wins and that takes care of itself.
I think y'all are being obtuse if you think just because a team has the same overall/conference record as Wake, that we are equal - we just aren't, especially at home. Y'all are smarter than this. Not all wins are created equally, and not all win margins are created equally. Wake has 8 20+ point wins (and two 19 point wins), while State has 8 double-digit wins total.
