2024 PGA Tour thread

Hideki and Clark are names. The recent DP Tour grads the last couple of years or so have been on a lot of leaderboards. And saw Higgo's name for the 1st time in a while. That dude has talent if he can harness it.

As for AK, I'm guessing LIV was by far his best choice. Would he even have qualified to be on the KFT or Euro challenge tour? Maybe the Asian Tour?

Greg Norman had to inform LIV players today that they are abandoning trying to get OWGR points. 🤣

Except when they play Asian and Sunshine Tour events.

They already got them for that. He's specifically giving up on LIV being sanctioned by the OWGR.

Curious how far he gets convincing the majors, who control the OWGR, to offer them slots based on LIV performance.

The US Open and the Open Championship both have 'outs' as anyone can try to qualify. A lot of LIV guys would have to qualify for those events even had they stayed on the PGA or DP tours. The Masters will continue to do what they have done, they will extend a few invites to players that are playing at a high level (Niemann). Can't see the PGA Championship giving any spots to LIV guys out of largess.

The PGA gave Niemann a spot as well, but that's it.

Poor Talor Gooch and his persistent whining while doing fuck all to get in via other means like Niemann...

The Masters also has an out just with an extra layer. In theory any of us could play in the 2025 Masters. Qualify for either of the Opens and finish top-4.

The LIV guys can still play their way into any of majors. They've just made it more difficult for themselves by committing 25% of their weekends to 54-hole shotgun-start exhibitions.

Yeah, I know - was being a bit sarcastic.

Didn't Niemann get his Masters spot for an Australasia win?

LIV in China this week? Remember the outrage when Lebron James went to China for a game?
Everything LeBron does is newsworthy because he's 1 of the 3 or 4 most famous athletes in the world and has been the face of the NBA for the last 2 decades. And yes, he did step in it with his China comments at the time, so he did deserve criticism for those comments. Very little LIV does is newsworthy because no one watches. They play on Trump courses and in the Kingdom, so why not play in China too. And the LPGA is in Hainan this week, and no one is saying anything about that (mostly because no one here notices because it's on when we're asleep, and they're showing the DP is Joberg in the a.m. over the LPGA re-run).

Looking forward to the Iran, North Korea, Russia swing on the 2025 LIV schedule. Trump and Putin can yuk it up by the 18th green.

Maybe they can play a Houthi stop in Yemen too.

Pyongyang Golf Course is the finest in North Korea, and it has great food. But it's just 6800 yards long and doesn't even have a slope rating. The course record is 71 by a German golfer named Claudio Consul, so it must be tough. I haven't heard of Consul, though - maybe he is/was East German. The rumors of golfers dying by stepping on land mines is absolutely baseless. No one has died on this course by stepping on a land mine.

Enghelab Sports Complex is the finest course in Iran. It's 6011 yards long, which sounds short, however it only has 13 holes. It does have a 117 slope, however.

In Russia, you have more options. I recommend Gorki Golf Club over Moscow Country Club. As you can see, it's pretty with lots of contouring. Though Scottish originalists would disapprove of the obvious use of bulldozers. Trouble is it's only open from mid June to mid September because the color of the ball is the color of the surface the other 9 months, so you'd lose a lot of balls. Add to that, Russia has few spotters these days because they're either fighting the holy war against those Ukrainian nazis, or they've fled the country.

Unfortunately, you're out of luck in Yemen.

I'm am all for calling out LIV as the joke that it is, but this is now the 2nd "Elevated" PGAT event this season that claims to have a cut. It's a 69 player field, and currently 7 players will not make the cut. Wow, the cut sweat drama... will +7 make the cut?

If the PGA is doing that to argue that it's events have cuts, while LIV does not, sorry PGAT, cutting seven players out of the field after two rounds is not a legit cut.

Top-50 make the cut I believe
