NHL Chase for Lord Stanley's Cup

Canton Mass native and Bruins fan Bill Burr said it best: FUCK YOU PHILADELPHIA

If Bergeron is ok. I don't know what is wrong, but the Bruins need him bad. Otherwise it could affect them like the Krejci injury last year.

Very true. One of my favorite Bruins in the post Neely/Bourque era. The absolute heart of the team

LOL you know Jack was pissed when that empty netter interrupted his "In the spring of 1992 ... " speech. He has probably been working on that all week.

Haha, no doubt. Paille stealing it from Campbell after Thornton bumbled around with it was great.

Are teams not allowed to show the game on local coverage when it's nationally televised, or is that a NESN choice?

Flyers have to figure out the goalie situation and also not play their best hockey October through March... then stink...

If you don't have your best player, you're not going to play your best hockey.

I don't care what happens in this series, I think this year and especially these playoffs have shpown that Jimmy Howard can be the next franchise goalie for the Red Wings. He has absolutely kept them in every game against the Sharks.

Howard's been playing incredibly well in the playoffs. Great third period all around for the Wings. Hope Franzen's ankle will hold up for game six.

Given how my teams have performed in the past year, I'm on the fence about getting my hopes up. But Detroit won't last too long if they keep getting out shot two to one.

In general, you're obviously right, but that wasn't the problem here. They didn't just play poorly as a team because they were missing Pronger and Carter. Just about every player except JVR was subpar individually. Even with Pronger and Carter, they might have still gotten swept.

IMHO, the goaltending against Boston was mostly adequate, but the guys in front of them were worn down emotionally from how bad it was in the Buffalo series. Spotting a good team a couple goals every game and pulling your goalie before rallying must be draining.

Losing to that Philadelphia team in embarrassing fashion in game 7 was clearly worthy of a contract extension. Terry Pegula is definitely going to turn the Sabres into a powerhouse.

:plos:

Regier is assuredly the bigger problem. I'm excited to see what happens. We have some pieces, some prospects, and (it appears) committed ownership for the first time in 40 years.

Hopefully Vanek takes the C. I'm pretty worried about that vacancy.

Clearly you haven't watched too many of the games. "That Philadelphia team" that just got swept by Boston was not the same team that beat the Sabres. They'd clearly run out of gas.

Boston-Tampa should be a good series but I expect Tampa to win it in probably 6. Boston looked good against the Flyers partly because the Flyers didn't play well. Tamps is just red hot right now.

Agreed. I also wonder if the whole year caught up with them. The team played as long a season last year as was possible, came out flying this season, and seemed to fall back down to earth after the all star break. It's always crazy to hear all the injury reports that come out after the season is over.

On to cheering for Gagne and the Lightning.

Completely agree.

And as Avalon said, Go Gagne.

Agreed as well. I think they just ran out of gas and the pressure of feeling like you had to play perfect in front of the goalie(s) during Buffalo wore them out.

Boston was just a better team and executed their system much more effectively.

I want to root for Gagne, but I don't want to root for the Lightning.

I think I'm jumping on the Sharks bandwagon, it would be nice to see them finally get over the hump.

Also, what do you guys want to see the Flyers do this offseason?

I think they need to at least consider Vokun/Bryzgalov depending on how much more cap room there is from the new TV contract.

I would love for them to bring Zherdev back, I think the way he got jerked in and out of the lineup affected his play a lot. I don't know if the cap room will be there to sign him though.
