The coach may not change, but the level of transparency into this situation might. Currie was known for being a marketer and getting alumni/fan buy-in, yes? If true, then he knows he'll need to come out and provide a better explanation for why Manning was retained.

My guess is they believe they have time to execute the move and are willing to seek the funds from donors before committing money from the department...while negotiating the terms. Currie was brought in to raise funds for the move IMO.

One reason would be to try and raise the funds TO buy out Manning. Maybe they haven't found them yet.

Totally agree. The take on here for the last 3-10 years by many has been....Wellman has to go before we hire a new coach. He's not even gone and the replacement in-waiting is already being run out of town by some of the same people. I imagine we'll here more about these issues once Wellman is...

That's kind of ridiculous. The ONLY reason Manning would be retained is that they don't have the money to pay an outrageous buyout set up by Wellman. How is that Currie's fault? Panicking appears to be the new Wake Forest Way.
