That was one of the recommendations from a comprehensive external review of gender equity issues in connection with NCAA championships, including issues that arose during the 2021 Division I Men's and Women's Basketball Championships.


Details of how the March Madness brand will be incorporated into the Division I women's basketball tournament are still being developed.

"The brand recognition that March Madness carries will broaden marketing opportunities as we continue that work to elevate the women's basketball championship."

I've noticed non-sports fans know the "March Madness" brand but not much else. They tend to say “March Madness brackets.” So I can see how Harris made an honest mistake.

Ahh…so there’s a reasonable basis for her statement. Too bad she sorta mixed up “brackets” with using the march madness branding language, inviting such apoplexy from haters.

Members of the Division I Women's Basketball Oversight Committee expressed their desire for substantial changes after the gender equity report on basketball championships was released Aug. 3.

The committee unanimously supported women's basketball adding the March Madness brand and sees this decision as one of the first steps to achieving greater equity between the women's and men's championships.

"This is just the start when it comes to improving gender equity in the way the two Division I basketball championships are conducted," said Lisa Campos, chair of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Oversight Committee and director of athletics at the University of Texas at San Antonio. "Adding the March Madness trademark to the Division I Women's Basketball Championship will enhance the development and public perception of the sport, and the oversight committee looks forward to its work to address other recommendations through the governance structure to continue those efforts."

The marketing and branding effort is one of many initiatives being evaluated to address gender inequity issues.

In another move, the NCAA national office has implemented a zero-based budgeting method for the two championships. Instead of adjusting budgets from the previous fiscal year, the men's and women's basketball championships staffs are starting from scratch in determining budgeting expenses, which must be justified and approved for each new period.

The move is designed to show where justifiable differences in the allocation of championship financial resources exist and are appropriate, with an eye toward increasing opportunities for planning collaboration and cross-promotion, as well as making the two championships more financially equitable.

The Men's and Women's Basketball Committees and Men's and Women's Basketball Oversight Committees also are conducting regular joint meetings to better collaborate and ensure alignment between the two championships. Additionally, the Division I Council in August assigned committees within the NCAA structure to evaluate recommendations from the gender equity report that fall under those committees' purview. Those membership-led committees meet regularly and have begun assessing the viability and practicality of implementing the recommendations.

Sadly, most people are going to dunk on the woman of color VP rather than make a reasonable attempt to figure out what she's talking about.

If a prominent Democrat like Biden or Harris make a single verbal flub then GOP news and social media are all over it and it's the biggest mistake ever. But when their own candidates and leaders do far worse on a regular, daily basis there's nothing but crickets. Just another example of the double standard the media holds Democrats to.
 
It is absolutely mind-blowing to me that Trump can say what he says day after day and dumbasses like Michdeac only get their dander up over something so insignificant because it's Kamala Harris. Assholes. This Michdeac douchebag is mad about Kamala talking about brackets (and she's effectively correct), but he's a big fan of Jim Harbaugh.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt not knowing some of my other occasional posts that are anti-Trump. But I'm a huge Trump hater and have been since 2019. (2015 - not 2019).

I'm not sure what Jim Harbaugh has to do with statements made by Kamala. But yes Harbaugh is great.

I'm also a big proponent of Biden and have been for a long time. I personally met him back during the Biden admin and actually was in his motorcade once. He's a great guy. He's aged significantly since then but that hasn't changed his core and doesn't change my opinion.

And Kamala made absolutely no sense here. It's being objective. Even if someone told her that the women's tournament didn't get branded March Madness until 2022, that has nothing to do with not being allowed to have brackets. And then getting preachy and giving a "history lesson." It's just ridiculous. But I didn't think she was a great Prez candidate and I don't think she's a great VP.

So your post called me an "asshole," "dumbass," and "douchebag." And yet your post is wrong on the merits and wrong on the conjecture. Perhaps you should reconsider what else you may be wrong about in life.

What Vice Presidents have done very much? I mean, the office itself doesn't give the occupant much to do other than preside over the Senate and cast tiebreaking votes if there is one. I suppose you could argue that Dick Cheney was the real power behind the throne, but given how that turned out I'm not sure that's a precedent that needs to be set. The first Bush was sent to the funerals of foreign leaders by Reagan ("you die, we fly" Bush joked once) but generally veeps simply don't do much other than ceremonial duties.
 
Other than Cheney, I’d like to hear about the major accomplishments of recent VPs. I guess you could cite Biden with Obamacare but that’s about all I can think of specifically.

The two most notable non-J6 things I can cite for Pence are him going to the DMZ and “staring down” North Korea and him storming out of the Colts game when players knelt for the anthem, a pre-planned stunt.

We've had a recent history of two highly involved VPs, Cheney and Biden. Pence was obviously a lackey. Even if you take out Bidens work on Obamacare, he was incredibly popular. Kamala?
