Capitalism

The social media age culminating in the Trump presidency has damaged the myth that wealthy people are smart. Wealthy industry magnates used to not be heard from much except for speaking engagements at big events or occasional interviews. Now they can just spout off whenever.

Elon Musk: Not all that bright !
that clip of him adding new shit in real time to his rocket or cybertruck or whatever while three of his engineers stand awkwardly there looking confused is great

Can you post it?

I only have second hand knowledge from my wife’s uncle who had a company he owned that was bought by Tesla. Coming from him, who has a PhD and worked as a processing development engineer in battery tech and the such for like 40 years, Musk had deep understanding of the technology, very complex questions, etc.. I think it’s pretty known that he is a much more involved CEO then normal business fluff.

Dinner for 2 at the steakhouse tonight. 20% worked out to $70. We ordered no sides or dessert. Seems like ya just need to want it

How much did you drink?

How much did you drink?

3 glasses of wine for me and 2 for my wife. The steaks were close to $90 ea and my wife makes em better at home for like $10. So just like capitalism is about getting suckers to spend $10/mo on Nintendo online and paramount plus, poors need to find the job where they get a 20% cut on flavorless $90 grass fed steaks

My steak game has gotten so good that I rarely order steaks at nice restaurants anymore. Honestly, I really only get fish that isn't salmon or beef that's either a great cut of steak or short rib.

I see what you did there.

Sounds like he’s poisoning the well.

The billionaire libertarian deregulation guy wants to fire all the people who moderate twitter and censor hate speech, huge surprise.

So…one of my kids is lining up an interview with SpaceX.

I’m like…sure you want to work for Musk? He’s like…meh…it’s a good opportunity. I think he’s probably right, but…

So she like didn’t say anything

I've read the Constitution For the New Socialist Republic in North America and, while an interesting thought exercise, I found it to be deeply flawed.

At its core, it lays the groundwork for socialism in one country which simply doesn't work. The mechanisms for permanent revolution, which are necessary for functional Marxism imo, are either completely left out or neutered to the point of being ineffective. The text shows no tolerance for sending revolutionaries to foment rebellion in other states which would allow the necessity of engaging in a global capitalist society to persist.

I also think that it is too optimistic about the potential benevolence of a dictatorship of the proletariat. Maybe it's because I have more anarchist sympathies, but I don't see how the dictatorship of the proletariat it seeks to establish would not try to exist in perpetuity in spite of the safeguards put in place. All of writing on not torturing people, allowing for dissident media, basic due process, etc. would go right out the window. Going back to this creating socialism in on state, this is how you'd end up with a kulak class and purges right quick.

It's treatment of BIPOC folks by essentially advocating for the creation of autonomous ethno states is gross too and runs counter to communism. Is it revolutionary to attempt to right the wrongs of American imperialism by shifting power from one bourgeois dictatorship to another? Yeah, places like Puerto Rico and Hawaii should have self determination, but is it really revolutionary to tolerate a bourgeois dictatorship in these proposed states so long as it's dominated by people of native descent? They lose the forest for the trees here in that they tacitly support the exploitation of the proletariat so long as the bourgeoisie is ethnically representative of the population it's exploiting.

And I'm glad this thread got bumped because now I know where to post Murray Bookchin memes
