FiveThirtyEight midterms projections update: Republicans favored to take the Senate

If Warren or Sanders was running for President against right wing tea party nutcase du jour and it was my only choice, I would hold my nose and vote for Warren or Sanders.

Well the second quote is an actual statement from a GOP VP nominee

Yep, which is why I said I would seriously consider 3rd party. I agree that Warren and Sanders aren't batshit crazy like many on the right wing are. Still doesn't mean that their policies aren't bad.

Well, that's fine. You can disagree with their policies, but the policies are not extreme.

Compared to the US electorate, they are extreme. Bernie Sanders is a self-admitted socialist.

I think you're talking about branding instead of beliefs. Far more Americans share socialists beliefs than claim to be socialists.

Just saw an interesting statistic: there was more outside spending in the North Carolina senate campaign ($80+ million) than was spent total in any other race except for Colorado ($82 million).

That's absolutely wild.

more fucking numbers

I don't have any insight into whether or not they were self-reported figures or not. Doubt we can trust these either. I bet Tillis spent no money and all the ads were just the good will of tv execs in the grand old state while Hagan bankrupted the economy by spending over 6 trillion dollars. Thanks Obama.

one time in college this guy was telling deacfan2009 that joke and he goes hey why was six afraid of seven, and then lunged at him and said BECAUSE SEVEN HAD A KNIFE and stabbed 2009 in the hand

true story

Lets see.

Her populist attacks on corporate income taxes are extreme (mostly based on incorrect assumptions based on looking an financial reporting for corporations) based on the belief that the US can tax the worldwide profits of every company domiciled here at the US rate.

Her beliefs that we can fund major entitlement expansions by taxing rich people and corporations.

Her beliefs that the US should pay for the college education of everybody

Now you can sit here and stamp your feet that everybody doesn't agree with your take that Warren is a moderate and be aghast at the electorate when she got destroyed in the general election.......or not. I really don't care.

Germany taxes all corporations domiciled or managed in Germany on their worldwide income.

Germany provides tuition free university education for all citizens.

Germany provides universal health care coverage for all citizens.

GERMANY IS A FUCKING CONSERVATIVE AS HELL COUNTRY.

Americans really, really, really, really have no idea how fucking far right we are as a nation. FAR TO THE FUCKING EXTREME RIGHT END OF THE GODDAMN SCALE. Own it if you want, but don't call centrist politicians "extremists".

Damn solid post Vad.

I know that what ChrisL meant was that she's extremist for a politician holding office in America, but it's a really good point to keep in mind.

And Germany's economy is doing just fine.

Germany's system is a great model and it's the general direction we should go. I like the combination of public and private insurance and the fact that it allows for competition. But it ain't cheap. Germans pay 15% of their gross wages for it.

Depends on what you mean by cheap. Germany spends far less on health care as a percentage of GDP than the US.

that's from the Wall Street Journal by the way so I think it counts as a reliable source of information. http://blogs.wsj.com/economics/2013/07/23/u-s-health-spending-one-of-these-things-not-like-others/

here's a chart that's easier to read.

but it's from pbs so all the conservatives need to ignore it and look at the wsj one, kthanx.
