Just watched Tyler Lewis

What a load of horseshit. The guy is a 'foundation type" -- you can't 'speak it' but he's only here for 5 years and then Wellman makes a legacy hire (his own legacy). [Redacted] was the right fit for a program that had lost its light -- a freewheeling man for all seasons who dropped dead... Now pay attention -- the guy that replaced him was a 'good lieutenant" but did not have either the ability or the fortitude to tell his kids that they were fucking up and playing one on one basketball. The kids ran the program and the coach lacked discipline on and off the court. Now then, at the 2 schools down the road you can roll out AAU talent but never - ever is a ballplayer bigger than the program and you see it when the coach at either university takes a star to the side and chews him out for all to see. Those guys are coaches. Dino was no fucking coach. He was a poor baby-sitter and when you came home you found out that the kids were all outside and a couple of them were peddaling weed and enrolled in a thug program for minors. That last program -- sans Skip who would jerk a knot in yer ass if you f'ked up-- was headed for some major embarrassment which is what happens when you have no CODE.

That's all Jeff is...he's no world beater or one hit wonder...he is a CODE guy...the guy in the military who they send in to instill discipline in a troop gone off the rails. He is here to do a job and then make way...

Neg Rep the Hell out of me...who gives a shit, but I guaran-damn-tee that the 'alleged incident' with the girl in the band would have become the norm as long as that previous coach remained seated on his hands.

I'm with you Lectro.

After Tyler's game last night, I think I will call him the Maestro. He dictated the terms of that game from start to finish. Talk about a coach on the floor-cue tag line.

This should be required reading for all the Buzz-outers and the fringe idiots who want to fire Wellman.

Nevermind the knot-heads -- racerdeac can't understand that discipline is not necessarily the screaming type... He also can't understand that the discipline at WF had entirely eroded (the reason Gaudio was fired) and that without a stabilizing figure the program was heading toward public embarrassment... I don't know what it would have been but there was a gulf forming between the student body and the basketball athletes and that never works out well.

Just get the Greensboro paper this morning and see the pic of Buzz and Daniel Green. Buzz is in his face and has his hand pressed against Green's chest. Dino never fuckin disciplined anybody.

You can never have enough PG's on your roster, same goes for QB's.
The most glaring issue I have is that it seems Bzz did not trust his assistant coach. More alarmingly, an assistant that coached the kid!

Imagine if Grobe had not listened to Elrod about Riley Skinner. It's crazy to think but, quite possibly, Grobe might be out of a job.

The idea of "foundation hire" is really just a bunch of bull. Who the hell hires a coach that they won't think will be the long term answer and then will have a general worse public perception of the job when the 2nd hire has to be made?

Wellman does, if you're to believe some on this thread.

RacerDeac didn't compare [Redacted] to a military disciplinarian. Facepalm

Lewis and CMM would be a great one-two punch. I guess not as good as Lewis and Purvis though.

This. I don't know why these discussions turn into "Bzz picked CMM over Lewis" when he could have had both. Nothing wrong with bringing in a pure PG with a combo guard in the same class.

Even at the time, the only sure thing at guard was a senior CJ. I seriously hope Bzz hadn't written in TC and Chase as a backcourt in pen thinking we only needed one guard. I'd feel a lot better about a Lewis-CMM backcourt than what we're going to have. We've struggled in the past with combo guards taking offer fulltime. And we're going to be looking at some combination of CJ, TC, Fields, and CMM running PG next year.

Did it look like he's still going to end up with a shitty degree?

He won't leave with a worse perception...he will do the same as he did out in Colorado...he will set the table. When a program gets run into the dirt with 'one and done' mentalities then you need a guy to come in and excavate the old structure and pour a slab and this time put some frickin rebar into the mix. That's what keeps it cohesive...not the volume of the concrete but the ties within it that keep it strong.

That's Jim Grobe's method...he's not a military "screamer" but fuck up with that guy and see if he does not hold you accountable.

If he's so good why is he going to NC State?

You're completely making things up.

Also, part of military discipline is dressing sharply. Bzzz can't even get that right. For fuck's sake Coach, fix your tie.

And yet Ty Walker is still on the team :squint:

Colorado is 5-4 this season with losses to Wichita St, a terrible Maryland team, Colorado St and Wyoming.

The wins are over some team named Ft. Lewis, Western Michigan, Air Force (Buzz sure set that program up well!), Georgia and Fresno St.

The way to resolve the question is probably to recognize that Skip-Dino needed a dominant point guard for their system and Buzz does not appear to want one for his.

Like trading in an 1997 Lincoln Town Car for a 2012 Jetta. Well played Steve Nash. I salute you.

If Bz leaves us with a bubble NIT team or even an NIT team, that's a worse perception than when he started. You can't compare Colorado pre-Bz and Wake pre-Bz. That's ridiculous.
