NIT bubble watch

Safe to say at this point that the 20 game ACC schedule has been a disaster. Time to drop it back to 16 and beef up the non-conference schedule—if the only thing that matters is the goddamned NET, then let’s give them what they want.
I'll go a step further. Expansion has been a disaster. Adding FSU, Miami, and VT hasn't helped football that much. Adding Cuse and Louisville has done next to nothing for basketball. Now we have a huge conference that's still further behind the SEC and Big Ten than ever with no way to catch up.

Three of the top 9 teams (.500 and above) this season were expansion teams (Miami, Pitt, Cuse). Five of the bottom six were.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Forbes didn’t jump ship for another program. With computers picking teams with worse records for these post season tournaments, NIL money, and transfers, Forbes will always be delt a bad hand at LOWF. He does more with less since he’s been here but no computer is tracking that!
Don’t lose to last place LSU & Loyola Marymount back before conference play. Learn to hold on to 10 point leads at home in 2nd half against a team like State. Then some of these questions answer themselves for postseason.

Ok, I'll grant you most of that, but saying FSU didn't help football is ridiculous. FSU was dominant for years after they were added and won multiple championships. They haven't been great the past few years, but come on.

"that much" They haven't helped that much.

They had a brief dominant run but it didn't do much to elevate the conference. FSU-Miami in the ACC isn't what it was before. FSU-Clemson never turned into a national marquee game, especially after it was no longer the Bowden Bowl.

Damn. You really told us

Eleven years at the bottom of the conference, four of which resulted in twenty losses, has destroyed the reputation as a good basketball program. Wake does not get the benefit of the doubt. Finish the season losing 9 of your final 14 games and you get to stay home.

It appears we were were never an actually a serious candidate…like second 4 out and would have needed a bunch of no shows. Pretty embarrassing and would love to hear Forbes and Curry POV

If by brief, you mean 15 or so years, followed by some suck, and then an actually brief 3ish year dominant run. And it was really more like 20 years, but the first 5 were before joining the ACC.

So we lose to Loyola Marymount and it kills our NET, yet Gonzaga lost to them at home and is one of the favorites to win the NCAAT. Bullshit.

Notre Dame beats Michigan State by 18, and they are fine. But Pitt gets clobbered down to the Last Four In, after losing by 7. Bullshit.

Still believe that Clemson got hosed the worst. Beat State 3 times, Duke, and Penn State, how does that not provide enough evidence that you are better than Nevada. Bullshit.

Feel free to go back to the prime Bowden years well before the ACC Championship Game era. I don’t think the ACC as a whole benefited from those years or that it even needed to in the way we need dominant teams now.

Because during Clemson’s overall season they didn’t play anybody OOC but Quad 4 type teams and lost to the likes of SC & Loyola. Get out of your comfort zone and play teams like Michigan state plays early (Gonzaga, KY, Villanova, Alabama, Oregon & Notre Dame (going 3-3). Then finishing 4th and 19-12 overall will get you in any tourney!

Your point becomes invalid when you use the term “Quad 4”. What a dumbass system! lol 😂

To be fair, Clemson has played a weak non-con for decades. But they don’t usually finish 14-6 in conference.

Clemson also had some teams on their schedule underachieve relative to recent performance, notably UofSC, Richmond, and Loyola. Played in a tournament and got the worst P5 team in Cal. Of course it hurt double that Clemson lost two of those games.

Michigan State can schedule anyone they want to play. Villanova isn’t going to agree with a Home and Home with Clemson.

Very similar to 21-22 Wake

I'm over it. Hard to shake the feeling that the committees just like to stick it to ACC teams these days. But objectively the ACC isn't as good as it used to be so maybe it's fair.

Crazy to think that a half-dozen baskets could have been the difference between missing the NIT and being comfortably in the NCAA field.
