Got it secondhand but was told no playing on the weekend at all for three years.
Looks like they have two courses. My mistake. Was thinking of four rounds played in a tournament rather than two courses.
That makes more sense. I've been out there and was wondering if the other two courses were offsite or something.
No golf on the weekend for three years is brutal. I'm in the process of joining Royal Dornoch and will be a Struie member for three years which means I have to pay like 50% of the guest fee on the championship course and don't have access to member tee times. can still play on weekends but it doesn't really matter that much since i won't be going to scotland more than once every year or two.
Where do you live/play now? Why wouldn't you try to join a nice club in/around DC (or Pinehurst) rather than one in Scotland?
Yeah, my friend was telling me that there's a good number of local muni's around DC that make joining a club less necessary. The public and public/private options in Charlotte are less robust.
Everything in DC is at least 45 minutes away.
Live in DC. Was invited to "consider" Belle Haven CC last year but I don't plan on staying in DC too much longer so it wouldn't make sense. I'm a member at CCNC in Pinehurst and have family access to Pinehurst and Pine Needles/Mid Pines. If I move to Charlotte next I will certainly join somewhere there.
I pulled the trigger on Dornoch because 1. it is my favorite course in the world 2. my dad is a member and it is a good excuse to make trips over there with him 3. it's a honor to be asked, not many top ten courses in the world asking me to join and 4. it costs less than $1k a year to be an international member under 40.
Are you sure they don't have 36 holes instead of 72?

Yeah. I thought it was 36. I've played both. It's a fantastic track and a great clubhouse. Maybe they have reciprocity somewhere.
