Official Omaha (Travel/Planning) Thread

Damn, this ass fly's free on Southwest, if I head to the airport now I could make it to the game before the first pitch.

i paid extra for refundable getting there (southwest), delta on the way back which i fly enough so that a credit instead of a refund isn't a big deal.
I booked SWA too, but used points so even the baseline fare is refundable -- all fares refund credit at minimum on SWA if paying with cash

I did pay a little extra for a refundable Airbnb spot

I have to work Monday and the early flight was booked up by the time I booked, so my return flight would be during a hypothetical Monday night game 3

It seems commercial flights to Omaha are expensive. I wonder what a group charter costs.

Shoulda booked today, somehow they got more expensive after we won. Gonna wait to see what they look like tomorrow AM, then pull the trigger. Gonna do Saturday AM - Monday AM.

Aren’t most airlines (except Spirit/Frontier/etc) “refundable” these days in the sense that they will give you an airline credit for what you paid without deducting a change fee (as long as you don’t book Basic Economy)? I know Delta is, I thought American and United did too. If that’s the case, better to book now. Prices definitely are not going down, and if you have to cancel, you have a year to use the credit

I think the game tickets will be the most manageable of anything. Just gotta get out there.
I think the game tickets will drop significantly if you wait until the day before or so. Our tickets for last Saturday dropped like 50% between last Monday and the day of the game. The get-in price for TCU-Oral Roberts tomorrow is like $10. If we make the final, there will be lots of LSU/Tennessee fans trying to offload tickets.

This is what I'm hoping, big deluge of tix after tonight's knockout.

This team is exciting! Love the two down 2 comebacks! Would love to experience the CWS one year, for sure bucket list. Go Deacs.

I covered the cost of one of my hotel nights (plus some beer) at the Horseshoe casino in Council Bluffs last weekend. It was only like a $7-$9 Uber ride downtown.
My biggest concern is getting an Uber to the airport on Monday AM. Got a 6:15 return flight to SC.

I'm so jealous of you guys that are there. My wife is a Gator though. This could get awkward.

Depends on your wife's kinks. Some people are into humiliation and getting absolutely reemed out. If that's the case, then it should go really well for you.

I had a 7am flight out on Sunday and it was like a 15 minute wait for an Uber at 5:10am. But it was still only like $17 and the airport is tiny - you do not need a ton of lead time (there was a maybe 5-10 min security wait without precheck and exactly 1 person in line ahead of me in the precheck line). I definitely could have left a half hour later.

What has everyone seen as best accomodation options? Flights are booked. Sat-Tues. Try to swtich to monday if that becomes an option.

i've got a refundable airbnb booked for me and my brother

was a bit cheaper than most hotel options but not by much

unclaimed top bunk in the airbnb!
