WF at SYRACUSE, Saturday 3:30 ESPN2

My wife and I decided to fly up for the game. Well I decided I wanted to go and was able to sell her on it somehow. I’ve never been to Syracuse so any tips about the town would be appreciated…

If you’re coming in Friday, I’d 100% recommend eating at dinosaur BBQ for lunch or dinner. It’s a Cuse staple. https://www.dinosaurbarbque.com/syracuse/

Then walk about 5 minutes to Armory Square area. Lots of restaurants, shops and bars. This is all downtown Syracuse, not campus

Gameday, you should head to campus and walk along Marshall st for more shops, restaurants, etc. head up to the quad for tailgating. The dome serves all sorts of alcohol. Booze, beer and wine. And we just upgraded the dome with AC and better food choices

It will be dry Saturday but cool. Mid 60’s.

Also, 30 minutes east of Cuse is turning stone resort and casino. One of the biggest casino resorts in the Northeast. Tremendous place for gambling, golf, food and music

Thoughts and prayers.

I'm sure there are nice parts of town, but I've never seen them on my few trips there. Syracuse, NY is about a half-century past its heydey and an industrial wasteland. I struggle to understand how they recruit anybody not already local.

This is completely inaccurate in 2021. Have you ever thought we recruit just fine because your perception is off?

Radio up here all week has been making fun of Winston Salem and it’s ticked me off. I loved my visits there. I think everyone loves to say every city not there’s is a dump

You are wildly inaccurate in your assessment. I hope you give the city a shot again. We’ve had quite a revitalization

My wife grew up 20 minutes from Syracuse. I've been there. How that dump recruits any kids is beyond me.

I’m getting a nice cross section of you fine wake forest folks in this thread. Yikes.

Boeheim really seems to resent being in the ACC. I remember when y'all joined he said something about getting used to eating at Denny's

Boeheim is a social dork who always says stupid stuff. We love him as a coach but he’s an ass when he says stupid stuff like that Denny’s comment. That crap drives us nuts.

Wake Forest squeaked by Louisville last week to remain undefeated, while Cuse suffered a narrow loss at Florida State. Around 80% of public bets are on Wake Forest here, so it seems the people believe the Deacs can pull out another cover. The experts think differently, however, and have piled on Syracuse since this line opened at Wake Forest -11. Syracuse has one of the better pass defenses in the conference and can slow down this high tempo Wake offense. Since the beginning of the 2018 season, Wake Forest is 1-5-1 ATS as a road favorite.

I don't know a ton about Cuse, but given what I saw in their game against FSU and what was posted above about their offense, this seems like a good matchup for Wake. Especially if we see the defense from the Virginia game.

The Orange haven't broken 30 points against any non-FCS opponent. That won't be good enough for them in this game.

That’s our biggest concern too. Our offense has been dreadful and our defense has been a huge surprise. We do have the best RB in the ACC but it doesn’t help when you have ZERO downfield passing game.

There is someone on their board now saying Clawson came to a Syracuse event and bad mouthed their program.

i would NOT put syracuse on a shitty cities list. It's a little dated in terms of architecture, but it feels like a smaller philly to me. i'd rather live in Syracuse than Greensboro for sure.

I’ve been to Dinosaur BBQ and it’s good and I don’t mean to take away from it or the recommendation but I did get a laugh out of the New Yorker recommending to the North Carolinian that his first stop should be a BBQ place.

In Winston there’s this great place called DOMINOS where you can get real NY style pizza!
