Childress new Assistant Basketball coach (Corbean gone)

dan's getting more transparent by the day. pretty clear he felt the guy who should have been gone was rusty and not walt.
 
All Wake Forest sports openings now come with certain criteria as if applying for a job right out of college. We get a pool of 100 applicants our first cut off instead of GPA is apparently graduated- Wake Forest, anything else is unacceptable.
 
Weather now getting nice, time for Wellman to go bike riding again!!!

I'm pretty sure Dan knows this has nothing at all to do with Corbean. I don't think this passage is a shot at Rusty for sucking on MSD's tit instead of putting himself out there like an assistant coach is supposed to do, but it sure could be.

"In talking with Corbean, he knows the score. He knows his is an uncertain business that requires one to be light on their feet. Coaches, by trade, are nomads. They are required to move around to stay in the business."

By this definition, Rusty isn't a coach. He's a lawn ornament.

Wasn't the rumor that Wellman forced the Billings fire because players he recruited from TX didn't fit the "culture"?

Only in the bizarro world of Buzzin would a 9 win improvement after a coaching change, or a top 25 pre-season ranking 4 seasons later, be cited as a success for the former coach.

In a side note, according to the old board Battle was in the mix for Associate Head Coach at Butler after Graves moved to UAB. He could have been the guy who helped Stevens recruit a level of players Butler isn't used to getting now that they are in a high major conference.

First bold is exactly right. Here is your problem. When we fire Bz we need to clean house...including Childress. His next job will not be at a school where he was a legend. He should know that. We will give him all sorts of lenience. Fans aren't going to berate Childress no matter how much they Bz. But they aren't going to sit on their hands either. Childress will be gone when Bz is gone, and his next job won't be near as cushy. At the very best Childress could hope to go back into administration at Wake in which case he is out of the coaching ranks again and now has a failure as his only experience. He should have left and gone to another program (just like Rusty tried to do) and get some experience outside of Wake Forest.

This all makes sense, unfortunately our AD does not have a recent history of acting logically.

Rulz will be our next basketball coach. We'll have some fine, good ol', country-style culture then, by God.

Chill wants to be the eventual HC at Wake, he doesn't want to wait long, and alot of famous alums want him to have that job sooner rather than later.

I've dreamed about Childress being head coach, too, but after dreaming about Childress taking a mid-major to the tournament.

I can't believe that people could be Wake fans, witness what happened to State under Sidney Lowe, and want to fast track a legend without any college head coaching experience to head coach.

Although I agree with you, if our only non-Buzz option is Chill then so be it.
 
This just reinforces my long held belief that Wake fans would rather feel good about Wake sports than do the work necessary to actually try to be good.
 
I guess Fred Hoiberg's success at Iowa State is giving them hope. But you can't beat the bushes for Juco guys and transfers at Wake the way Hoiberg is at ISU.
