No, todays QB’s can’t take a snap under center or perform a toss to a running back, those things are too hard.
 
We need speed at RB and LB, State blitzed up the middle all night. I like our backs, but they can nit get to the edge. They bottles up the middle with pressure and it destroyed the run game . I wish we would throw the pass out in the flat( dame thing as a sweep) it worked well once early and we never went back to it.

It’s honestly not on the backs. When they don’t get the ball until the defenders are in the backfield then it’s hard to get yards. We need a new offensive system and/or Sam has to make quicker, better decisions. The holes are already closed by the time the RB gets the ball.

Dont see it, but if Clawson can right the ship with 2 more regular season wins, he will have done a good job. 3 more wins would be remarkable.

Looks like what’s happening is defenses are now waiting to see our back pick up a blitzer and then bringing one more on a delayed blitz and thus we have no one left to pick that blitzer up. The ball has got to come out of Sam’s hand quicker.

Note that we did this on the very first play and it went for 0 yards. We showed it too early when it wasn't needed yet, instead of seeing how they'd play us.

We should run a 2 TE set and drop one for blocking. Problem solved.
 
It must be so hard to be a State fan. They get their biggest win in years and they still have to try to prove their worth to overcome the massive inferiority complex they have.

And when they can’t, the resort to childish insults.

Clawson said on his radio show last week that ” we aren’t a 2 TE offense.” I love Dave, man crush, but I think he might be too “system“ oriented. Need a happy medium between Grobe and Clawson. I mean with Grobe we might come out running the option one week, wide OL splits the next week or splitting the fullback out wide the next week and with Clawson we never see anything different???

Way easier said than done.

I would argue a huge part of our offensive success has been because we have a scheme and our players are able to master it.

Anything we want to add comes at a cost — both literally in terms of dedicating time but also complexity for players that can lead to poor execution.

I’m not saying we should never try to optimize what we do (and our gameplan has evolved over time), but that there are significant trade-offs in trying to do new things that might seem like common sense.
