How long a tenure should Steve Forbes be given to make the NCAAs?

How long should Steve Forbes have to make the NCAA tournamnet before a coaching change?

Wait, that’s a misleading response option - ‘move on after this season ends’ struck me as, ‘everyone should move on and reassess because it’s too difficult to put a number on it at this point.’ I didn’t think it meant HE should be moving on…

I’d like to recast my vote for option E…it really depends. He’s going to bring WF b-ball back…I genuinely believe that.

Back to what? We need to realize we have never been a bball power.

I want to see what he does with his incoming class. I do not think we have had 3 4 star recruits in a long time??? Maybe back to Justin Gray, Big E and was there another one in that class?

Had four in the 2006 class (ish, Chas, Hurley, LD)

247 doesn’t have rankings for the 2007 class for some reason but I bet Teague, Johnson, and Skeen were all 4 stars.

One thing to keep in mind is where we might be if we had hired someone other than Forbes during the Covid stuff. The fact that he put together a 25-10 team in year 2 with recruiting restrictions, all of the NIL stuff (which is in no way advantageous to Wake Forest), and the fact that our program was essentially dead in the water is damned near a miracle. Thank God for his success at the JuCo level in building rosters from year to year, as I shudder to think what these past two seasons would have been like without his eye for talent in the portal. Anybody who is remotely thinking about replacing him is a fucking moron and a fool.

It baffles me how some people do not understand how constant instability can adversely effect your program. He has at least going to get five years, regardless of how the next two years turn out.

Let's hypothetically say that we have a subpar season next year (at or just below 20 wins, no NCAAT), and the AD releases him. That would mean since 2007 we'd be looking at five coaching changeovers. That would just send us further down the spiral.

He's not going anywhere. He's doing the best he can. Give the man a chance.

I agree with whoever said it’s all based on vibes

The vibes were utterly fucked for a decade, and now they’re in a much better place

Some games this season disrupted the vibes, all the close losses especially

But I think we’ll know if the vibes turn utterly fucked again

This is the correect answer. Do any of you tools that would to move on from Forbes understand how incredibly difficult it would be to get any kind of a quality coach to come here if Currie went insane for a few hours and shit canned Forbes? It would be impossible and we might as well shut the program down or move to the Socon.

I like the other post where its mentioned that Wake has won 25 games in a season 5 times and Forbes is 1 of those 5. The dude can fuckin coach!

What about how those 25 wins do not equate to 25 wins 20 years ago? They didn’t even get us in the NCAAT.

We probably need 2 Alondes Williamses or 2 Ty Applebees and 1 really good wing (LD Williams, Strickland, Levy) to add to the 3 FR and we coming in and we should have a really good team next year.

Growth at 3/4 with Klintman and M-Cubed should be exciting to watch.

Lots of freaking out as if people are calling for Forbes to be fired immediately but 80% of the responses call for 5 or more years. Everyone understands that he should and will get plenty of time. That doesn’t mean we can’t look at some of these crap performances and say man we really played like shit.

i know people know it, but it must be said...Forbes was +19 in wins from season 1 to season 2!

still people want to fire him, smh.

Wasn't that the same argument that people offered about getting rid of our previous coaches? Not that I think Forbes needs to go anywhere.

Except nobody actually does want to fire him other than a few lunatic trolls.

It takes time to clean up and rebuild after a Cat 5 hurricane. Or an F5 tornado. Wake had both. Back to back. Let Forbes clean and rebuild.
Last year was an NCAA year but the committee are fucktards. (As always). This year was a bubble team mid feb. Something the lost decade could not provide. He is very close. And the team next year (assuming another transfer pg materializes) will be even better.
Go Forbes!

Nothing about year one can be looked at as real. Wake played 2 division 1 non-conference games. They played November 25, November 27, and the next D1 opponent was Jan 3 at Georgia Tech. That isn't a basketball season by any measure. Any evaluation of the coach needs to look at last year as his first season IMO.
