2012 FOOTBALL RECRUITING MEGA THREAD

WVU hasn't officially offered yet though. Wake will be in the mix simply by extending an offer.

Lectro, has the loss of Billings affected our Texas recruiting much?

Gaffney WR Quinshad Davis is having an in home visit with Tennessee coach Derek Dooley tonight. Davis also has met with recruiters from North Carolina and Wake Forest this week. USC has not been in this week. Davis will visit North Carolina this weekend and Tennessee January 28th. He visited Wake Forest last weekend. All four schools are still in it according to coach Dan Jones and Davis will announce on Signing Day at a time to be determined.

There are also reports that Notre Dame and Southern Cal have contacted him, but their distance is too far.

It appears we have smoothed things out.

Coach Mac is as strong as ever and Galloway just has a great eye for kids that can "become" players. He is outstanding at projecting kids 2 and 3 years down the road.

Tim is an outstanding coach and recruiter and he will be missed but he is not irreplaceable.

Good to know, really hope we can keep Galloway to ourselves for a few more years.

He and Jared Crump can play for anybody in the country.

We are in it to win it. We have a shot to make some signing day noise and each year we take one more small but sure step forward in recruiting. Just take the slew of Big kids we've gotten on the OL and now a new aggressive coach to help out in their development. We have never had close to this many big, strong kids with good feet.

Here is a little secret : Will Smith has 4-5 star Athletic Ability. The guy is a fast emerging jumbo athlete who has impressive camp film going against the top regional DE's. He's wide, tall and quick and powerful...he also had 20 points and 10 boards the other night :)

I'm hearing that QD will pick Wake (unless something at TN or UNC blow$$$ him away).

:bowdown::eek:hnoes:

Hope we can hold on. Would love to have that kid.

This adequately sums up my feelings.

Excited about the news, but scared it'll all fall apart.

We really are on the verge of an exceptional class with quality and depth at almost every position. The next 2 weekends - starting today- are very important. This is almost like waiting for Christmas morning and I can hardly wait.
Go Deacs.

I love guys like this - jumbo athletes in high school, who may even qualify as tight ends in some cases, and then put on some weight and maintain that athleticism. See, for instance, Duane Brown of the Houston Texans. Texans fans hated that we picked him in the first round since he just seemed to be a big body that hadn't played much on the line (he started off at tight end early in his career at VaTech). Now, he's an absolute monster, a complete force in the NFL. Big guys shouldn't move like that.

I agree. With Will, it is going to be a question of him applying himself...grinding till he gets the technical aspects. Things that guys like young Preble and Blitch are doing right now. (as but 2 examples)

I see the Stadnik kids at the gym regularly and they are a couple of good looking prospects. Dad is helluva nice guy and an NFL vet who has taught them well on and off the field...but you take the bigger, more touted boy, Brock, and you set him against the 'athlete' Smith and you will find that Will is the superior athlete and bigger kid. The Smith kid has a burly build and has frame to go large.

Lectro do you think Smith didn't have any other DI offers (per Scout) because he committed to us so early?

Once a kid commits to Wake, his offer sheet rarely gets updated.

Anyone out there have any news or updates about the visits going on this weekend?

He really loves Wake Forest -- imagine that! :)

But, like Suggs, he made it clear early on that he had no interest in looking elsewhere. Suggs has rebuffed NCSU and others several times after committing...it took some time but the others just quit calling. Sometimes a guy is a solid commit.

Again, when people have a chance to see his camp film they ask "what's up with this guy!?" Sort of like when Grobe first met Curry and wanted to ask him what he had done... (because Curry did not have big offers)
