Official 2018 NBA Offseason Thread: the preseason cometh

There's value in winning 50 games, playing competitive games and making the playoffs. Tanking increases the odds of a championship, but not dramatically so. I wouldn't give up a chance at 50 wins and a playoff spot just to bump my 2024 championship odds from 2% to 4%. If my ceiling was 40...

    Spurs Thread

The decline in ball movement is not just Aldridge. Kawhi is also more of an iso player than a ball movement player. Also, declines in minutes for Ginobili and departures of Diaw, Duncan and Splitter also impacted the team's passing skills. The Spurs were loaded with brilliant passers a few...

NBA Off-season thread: Duncan and Garnett retire

Classic Gregg Popovich. I love it. http://www.mysanantonio.com/sports/spurs/article/Spurs-Gregg-Popovich-gives-out-shoes-deflects-9240405.php Spurs’ Coach Gregg Popovich and Patty Mills gave shoes to 200 students at Hirsch Elementary on Thursday. The shoes were donated by Shoes That Fit, a...

Tim Duncan Retires after 19 Years in NBA

That is an unbelievable stat. That averages out to a 71% winning pct, which equates to a 58 win season. Last year, 6 out of 30 teams won 50 games. And Timmy averaged 58 wins over 19 years, all with the same team! And he closed it out with 67 wins.

Even if you overpay a very good player like Conley, it should be pretty easy to trade that contract if you regret it.

Boban is a legit offensive talent.

NBA Off-season thread: Duncan and Garnett retire

Boris Diaw leaving the Spurs makes me sad. I also thought he was important for small ball against the Dubs, although the Spurs keep losing before they face GSW.

NBA Off-season thread: Duncan and Garnett retire

That piece had Boston offering Avery Bradley, Isaiah Thomas, Jaylen Brown and Brooklyn’s 2017 first-round pick. That would be a heck of an offer and I could see both teams agreeing to it.

NBA Off-season thread: Duncan and Garnett retire

Maybe, but that's how it's always been for the Spurs. I don't think they've ever been the preseason favorites in the years where they've won the championship. But if you're one of the top 3-4 contenders every year for like 20 years straight, you're going to win some.

You're right about 23 being a big deal for Thon Maker. Biyombo was a bad choice for comparison though, because 1) there's debate about his real age also and 2) he would definitely be a 1st round pick this year. Probably a top 5 pick. A GM was quoted that he'd get ~$17M/year this summer.

Official '15-16 NBA Season Thread: THEY WON ONE FOR THE LAND

It does seem strange. You'd think you could get at least get bench guy. Maybe ATL needs cap space so they only wanted a pick.

Official '15-16 NBA Season Thread: THEY WON ONE FOR THE LAND

Welp, after a slow start, it turned out to be an awesome NBA playoffs. Spurs-OKC, OKC-GS, and GS-CLE were three great series. I'm still shocked that Cleveland figured out how to guard the Warriors. It's amazing how a guy like Tristan Thompson can be a borderline rotation player in some series...

Star treatment is usually about getting calls on the other team when you're on offense. The star treatment is not calling Steph for all the push-offs on offense. Curry has become one of the most handsy defenders in the league.

The average score of their playoff losses is 118 - 97. Really strange that the best regular season team ever is getting blown out pretty regularly in the playoffs. edit: I think I messed up my math but it's close.

Warriors have a chance to make history in G7. If they lose, their playoff loss total will match their regular season loss total. At least I'm assuming that's never been done before.
