For sure but you sweeten the deal enough that he stays for one more year.

    2023 College Football Coaching Carousel

With Bama and Washington both in the market already this cycle- I'm thinking that means Harbaugh comes back at least one year. Michigan would effectively be getting Washington and Bama's leftovers if they tip toe in cycle now.

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Yeah I would have friends visit from bigger schools and they couldn’t believe how visible athletes are in everyday campus life since: 1. Our athletes actually go to class and 2. since it’s such a small school - numbers game is in your favor to cross paths. We also don’t have made up...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

In the doomsday scenario - I see BC, Duke, GT, Cuse, Stanford, Cal, and SMU all remaining in the ACC. And that’s a lot of IF’s for a lot of schools who are borderline attractive to leave (State, VT, LVille, Pitt) That’s some type of conference left.

Yeah but FSU could then counter sue that they were in effect subsidizing schools like Wake. I like the spirit but think it’s a race to the bottom if we take that approach. From Wake’s perspective, I think this is a good thing FSU is suing. We’ll at least get some clarity on the GOR one...

True- the other one that doesn’t get mentioned enough is why is our endowment is so bad.

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Yeah I mean they still aren’t going to make this super conference either but they will have a much softer landing than we will if ACC completely implodes.

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Agreed on Hemric. Sadly it’s a different era now and I don’t think our lack of winning has anything to do with where we stand. We would need 30 years of dominance in men’s basketball or football for us to even have a seat at the little kids table. That’s Duke and ND- more so ND but K’s...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Don’t disagree and the decision to join ACC was one of the best decisions ever made by the University. You take away ACC- and Wake is like Richmond, Furman, Wofford, Elon, High Point, W&L, Davidson. Yeah I know we have med school. I would argue we have much more in common with those schools...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

winning games and people in stands has nothing to do with a schools attractiveness to Big Ten/SEC- it’s about brand and hypothetical value. We could win national title in basketball and make CFP next year in football and nothing would change for us.

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

I’m not naive enough to believe others aren’t going to try to leave ACC but given how this has played out - it’s pretty clear powers that be - ie UNC, UVA, Clemson- are letting FSU be the straw man here which they are fine with doing as they are already so hated. I’m not an attorney but...

Yeah but this is the developmental old school way of doing things in college football. We shouldn’t be betting the farm on an un-proven high school kid that isn’t a 5 star. You gotta live year to year now especially at QB- get best guy you possibly can.

NC Sports HOF: Childress, Steve Smith, McKillop, Nantz ... Wellman???

Yeah I think he would have made a ton of sense but timing never really lined up as Odom was already at Wake when Wellman came on board. I gotta believe he got a courtesy call in 2001 when Odom was leaving but IIRC- we were going to hire John Beilein as coach from Richmond then Skip called and...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Seems like this is case of someone wanting a huge raise without another job offer out there. That generally doesn’t work out. Either you end up staying at your current firm and there is resentment on both sides or you are in the job market.
