JD Vance presents himself as a bulwark against a "soulless dystopia." And people buy it.

Of course social media doesn't fully represent the national populace, but judging from social media posts today there is not only genuine outrage over this impending decision at our Far-Right Supreme Court and the GOP and Religious Right, but there is also growing anger at Democrats for not doing more to openly fight all of this. When this decision becomes official this summer there is definitely going to be growing pressure on the Democrats to speak up more and take a more combative stance, in Congress and elsewhere.

Pelosi and Schumer love that this is happening, think of all the money they can raise.

So what do we think president “X” would be doing with the current congressional makeup that Biden isn’t?

President Bernie Sanders would have made West Virginia his second home for the last year and had no problem getting down in the mud to get shit done.

This 55 year old dude stalked and attacked a teenager and his sister.

Manchin would’ve already flipped.

Cool and what would have changed? A few less judges? Democrats would be campaigning this fall in a much stronger position than they are now if that had happened. Manchin is the bad guy, not the complacent Democratic leadership.

Judges are pretty damn important.

Judges are pretty damn important.

But was it worth losing the 2022 midterms? Because that’s the trade off the Dems made. They look way better if Manchin switches, than they do now.

There is also the chance he doesn’t switch because he wants his families dirty secrets to be remained buried. But we’ll never know because the Democratic leadership is the perfect combination of cowardly and corrupt.

Getting even less done, inevitable inflation, etc…doubtful recipe for midterm success.

Are you asking if it's worth losing the Senate majority for sure to possibly lose the 2022 midterms?

What have they done to move the political needle? Biden hadn’t accomplished 10% of what he promised. Judges aren’t sexy.

You clearly haven't learned the lesson. Judges are sexy as hell to conservatives. Judges need to be sexy to the left.

These judges would have been just as sexy next year when the Democrats gained a few more seats and could actually pass legislation because the publicly exposed crook Joe Manchin was bought off by GOP interests.

Instead the Democrats seem neutered and not worth your time. You can’t take complete control of the government through a massive emotional groundswell and act this way, it’s suicidal. Nobody wants to hear your excuses from up on the hill.

You're real deep into a hypothetical I'm pretty sure only makes sense to you.

Do parliamentary systems generally result in somewhat more effective governance?

At least a more effective legislative body?

Feels like it.

You make the common liberal mistake here of assuming that Democratic opportunities mirror Republican opportunities, when that is never the case. Republicans nominate ideologically extreme judges to follow through with far right political goals. That is why judges are so important to them. In comparison, The Democratic Party is only capable of ideological moderation, which does not engender the same voter fanaticism. Bulwarks are very important, but they are not exciting, thus decrepit and neglected American infrastructure like the literal pre-Katrina levees in New Orleans.
