NC Deacs, Rise Up: A Call to Action for FSU on Saturday

mactheknife= thinman I think. Enjoyed his rantings back in the day about state fans. Nobody got under state fans skins better. Today, not so much....

Dear Lord, do you go out of your way to be miserable, or does it just come naturally at this point?

It's a fine article, and much better than many of the pieces I wrote for the OG&B many moons ago. Glad I wasn't frequenting the boards back then to see what an old ass grad student at Duke thought about my weekly football game recaps. (I especially recall going through an extended alliteration period in my articles back then, the horror!) Writing is a craft that, unlike lesser pursuits such as sociology, takes a lot of time and experience to hone. College newspapers and literary magazines are just the beginning of that long, rocky process.

Good work, Tribblite. Keep banging that complacency drum, as you can. It's a recurring problem that seems to be getting worse.

I remember back in my day I would write articles for the OGB and they were universally revered by types like PH. I recall many a day receiving PMs from people begging me to share my god-given talents with the greater population, but each time I gave a firm "no" because I was wholly committed to the OGB.

In all seriousness, it's fine for a school paper. I was reading for content over grammar anyways. Most of the time editors are just making sure that there aren't any blatant typos and that the article doesn't have any obvious falsehoods in it. When I would chip in and offer to read over articles for editing I would try to add in advice on how to make the writing flow a little better just to provide some guidance in terms of how an article "should feel" but for the most part it's just the people's work going into the paper. Maybe a little sad that it's the system, but at the end of the day it's a school newspaper.

We need more people! We need more students! Now is your time!

Fuck I'd be there if it wasn't Saturday. I have shit to do.

:(

Pretty much any scholarly field, particularly social sciences, requires a lot of writing. If you're going to take a personal shot, at least think it through.

I like the irony of you lauding this kid for saying the stuff you've been calling me contrarian for saying all these years.

That's not irony, Alanis Morissette.

Hate to beat a dead horse, and I admire everyone's efforts but it simply won't matter. Coach Buzz will be here through 2015 unless he chooses to resign.

Man, I'm just torn on this kind of thing. I think it's probably necessary to force Wellman's hand, but the whole thing just feels like it's disrespecting the players who are going to be playing their ass off (and possibly winning, given that it is a home game). I know there isn't a better time/place to voice your frustrations, but it sucks it has to be at a basketball game. [Redacted] deserves to be embarassed/called-out, but the players don't.

To that end, a sign that says "Our Players Deserve Better" would do a lot to assure the players of the purpose of the protest as well as increase the likelihood of getting more people in the crowd to join in. Despite dv7 saying he doesn't care what strangers think of him, it's in the best interest of the movement to appeal to as many people as possible.

That lurker would be me. Thanks for the shout out. My friends and I are definitely going to the game on Saturday and we definitely know what the deal is. I'd seriously give anything to have a competent coach at Wake.

Sample tweet and shout out:

That has been discussed. That approached worked well in Greensboro as well.

I think it would be cool if each person had a different player's name.

One has "CJ HARRIS DESERVES BETTER." Another person has "TRAVIS MCKIE DESERVES BETTER." Etc.

Great ideas, mike and BBD.

And I'm sure mike would tell you this himself, but don't chant anything during the national anthem.
