Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Couple other points on this whole thread by 'The Dude'. ESPN cannot renegotiate with the ACC unless the number of teams drops below 14. That is in the contract. So just Clemson and FSU leaving would not trigger their ability to renegotiate the contract. They would have to simply pay the...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

Keep in mind that the tweet referenced above is from 'The Dude' - a longtime WV kook. He has seldom had any real information at all. He mostly just makes stuff up and has a huge butthurt for the ACC because it did not take WV last decade.

Official 2023 College Football Thread: Michigan Recognized as National Champions of Cheating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I HATE the alternative broadcast. Basically unlistenable as far as i'm concerned. That has been annoying as well.

Official 2023 College Football Thread: Michigan Recognized as National Champions of Cheating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wish YouTube would give you a way to pick the games in the multiview. Sometimes the multiviews they put together make little sense. Like mentioned previously, if three ACC games are all on, you would think their algorithm would come up with 'lets put all these games on one multiview'.

Official 2023 College Football Thread: Michigan Recognized as National Champions of Cheating !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cristobal make the exact same decision when he was the Oregon HC against Stanford in 2018. Less than a minute to go - up by 3 with the ball, instead of kneeling handed off to the RB who fumbled it. Stanford would then make a FG to send it to OT and win in OT. His post game explanation of why he...

    GT Game Thread

Keep in mind that it was a 24-17 game with 10 min left in the 4th quarter before GT's defense collapsed.

    GT Game Thread

Just based on last year I would expect a close game. GT was 4-4 in ACC games last year (all 4 wins coming after Collins was fired) Wins: @Pitt, @UNC, @VT, and Duke Losses: Clemson (Collins HC), @FSU, Miami, UVA Wake was 3-5 in ACC games last year Wins: @FSU, BC, Syracuse Losses: Clemson...

    GT Game Thread

My personal opinion on GT's passing game is that they do not take alot of deep shots because they lack confidence in the OL to hold their blocks long enough to be able to execute that. Haynes definitely has the arm (and accuracy) to throw it deep, he just doesn't often get the time. I think...

    GT Game Thread

GT's QB coach has completely revamped King's throwing motion from when he was at A&M. The new OC has definitely been a big upgrade over the previous OC. The QB, WR, an RB rooms were all basically completely re-tooled in the offseason with lots of transfers. ( the #1 QB is a transfer. The top 2...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

I agree with all of this. B12 has always been behind ACC in terms of money payouts and this only makes that gap larger. B12 has a new commissioner who has done a great job of getting all their members on the same page. They understand that they are basically a league that has no one that the...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

A couple of tweets from yesterday. This first one shows how important coaching is How the financials looks for the various conferences after all the changes While I really dislike what college conferences have become (they are sort of conferences in names only) and wish we still had 8-10...

Good tweet showing the revenues of the conferences.

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

ACC postponed the meeting due to shooting at UNC and now hurricane in FL and GA. There are rumors of a President's meeting on Thursday or Friday, but nothing official on that yet.

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

I think this is one of the better articles written on ACC expansion and provides alot of color. https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-acc-presidents-to-meet-on-conference-expansion-on-monday-night-173527541.html Among the takeaways for me based on this and other recent articles. The holdup on...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

First, i'll believe all this when an announcement is made but some thoughts and rumors. Last week it was being reported Standford/Cal were looking at taking a 60-70% share, now we are talking about 30% plus travel. If that ends up being the what happens that is some good negotiating by ACC...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

This would not fly in this case because you have a multi-state pact so sovereign immunity would not exist. I've seen a number of lawyers comment on this. This is a popular idea with some fans but would not hold up in court. There is a reason no school has been willing to try to get out of a...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

The GoR is very simple, which is why it is so strong. It is only 3 1/2 pages long. There is no mechanism in the GoR for a team to leave it (no exit fee type arrangement). It basically states by signing it you are granting you media rights to the ACC until the end of the contract (2036). That's...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

First, I don't see any more expansion of the Big 2 in the short term - both have had public statements by AD's basically saying they don't really plan on expanding anymore right now. Keep in mind for them to expand it has to be a program that is additive to their contract, there are frankly very...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

The SEC is a better football conference than the ACC, but that is not what drives this. SEC has alot more fans watching their games - as does the B10 (see the article that someone posted a couple of pages back) - that is what matters. Whether teams are good or not is somewhat irrelevant, what...

Conference Expansion: Stanford, California and SMU Join the ACC

The B10 and SEC have been able to separate to become the Big 2 because of college football viewership patterns. The Top 11 programs in terms of avg viewership are all B10 and SEC programs + ND. College football viewership over indexes in 2 regions - the deep south (TX, LA, MS, AL, FL, GA, TN...
