Wake/UVA

Look, we just don't have any options at the end of the game other than put the ball in CMM's hands and see what he can do. We just don't. And he is not a PG and really can't create his own shot unless he there is a break down on D somewhere. That ain't happnin' against this Virginia team. There is a reason they are No. 2 and 23-1. What else are you going to do? CMM is not like Ish or CP who can just beat you off the dribble whenever they want. He is really a tweener. But damn, if there is a gap or a breakdown, he can take it. But it just isn't there against the best D in the nation. My suggestion would be, against the better teams, not to call TO and tell the kids beforehand that if we have it and need a hoop at the end, just attack and use some time, and we aren't calling TO to let them get set. That's how Belichik took down the Seahawks. It takes stones, esp with so many freshman, but we can't get a late good look against the really good D's, who know CMM is going to have it.

But, great game Deacs. Proud of the work and effort. REALLY proud.

Let's face it - Manning is taking Codi and Devin and three Frosh down to the wire at #2 UVA. I'm confident that we are well on our way.

Good post 88.

I will point out people crucified Manning for not calling a TO against Clemson, despite the fact that ploy rarely seems to work

He can't create on his own so him shooting the last shot is dependent on whoever's defending him or his area sagging off him.

The way he was shooting today that wasn't going to happen on the last play of the game

Maybe, but his release is so quick and he doesn't need to dribble before he shoots, plus he keeps the ball high. A tight rub off a pick and a quick shot might work.

There are other options. Dean Smith could come up with 4 or 5 on the spot. Use some imagination/ creativity .

Codi got the ball too early. They were correct in having MW handle. Codi has to get it and go. He can't beat anyone in the half court. Va just sat on his right hand. Ball should've gone back to MW for the jump shot. Va had a wall up.

Are you being serious here? Comparing the talent we currently have to any of Dean Smith's teams? Without Cody making a very difficult play to get that offensive rebound we would not have even been in position to win. You continue to criticize a player who everyone on this board knows his weaknesses. You never seem impressed with all he does right though. Give it a rest. Cody is far from the reason why this team does not win. Front court depth is the biggest problem and we have two players coming in next year to address that.

This nails it. Great post.

Can't believe anyone still takes wfu22fan seriously. Just click the username, choose ignore - your board experience will be better for it.

This, this, all of this

Watched the game with several deac fans today and we're all extremely proud of the team.. Danny Manning is the freaking MAN.... I'm proud that he is our coach. He has a way about him that just brews confidence.... Go descs..

And somehow no one's talking about Devin's 0-0 performance.
Devin should take CMM out for a steak for deflecting blame away from him.

He got screwed by some horrific officiating giving him 4 fouls, and UVA doubled him every time he touched the ball.

Watch the play. Once he gets cut off from the basket there was no where to pass to. Sometimes the other team plays good defense. Codi shouldn't have had the ball in the first place.

Who should have?
