NYC marathon I suppose. He did an Ironman last year and decided to take a year off of triathlons and has been filling the time he isn't biking with running. I have no idea how he does it, but he seems to enjoy most of the miles.

I'm at 1,348.8 on the year. 227.8 in July. Started my NYC marathon build up mid-July, so the monthly totals will only go up from here. At least until the race is over. My husband is at 2,259.2 on the year, which is a ridiculous 322.75 miles/month average. I'm tired just thinking about that...

Finally manned up and did a medium long run with a tempo today. Only four miles but averaged over 10 seconds a mile faster than I was hoping and my warm up and cool down were faster than planned as well. Good day to have a good day. Hopefully this will help me motivate to stop being such a...

I love that race! Fast, flat, big field, and you run through some pretty awesome DC landmarks. One year I did the race it was really cold, so you may want to bring some throwaway clothes. Continue to ramp up the mileage slowly and you'll have no problem.

I made the exact same announcement after my run today. I'm not a professional runner, so if the weather is crap I don't run. I will stepper and yoga instead.

What are the best pizza places in Charlotte

    1. Libretto's 2. Hawthorne's 3. Fuel if it's fresh 4. Don't bother with anything else. I'd like to think I know pizza. It's all about the sauce and crust. Any jackass can make a good mozzarella.

Those two are so cute it's questionable whether BSD is in fact the father. Maury might be able to help us out here.

Is your friend Franklin? If so, I've run with him a few times. Really nice guy. I'm imprrssed his debut was so fast. Lord knows my first marathon wasn't.

Technically any non-NYRR marathon or half marathon qualifying times aren't guaranteed. It's a first come, first serve registration period. They did not fill all the time slots last year, so they relaxed the standards a bit this year. Since the qualifying window is Jan 1- Dec 31, 2014, if you...

If you live in the NYC area, you can do the 9 + 1 option. Or you can give the lottery a go. Total crap shoot if you get in or not. Although I imagine a large percentage of applicants get in. They used to have a guaranteed entry if you were denied three years in a row, but that's gone now.

Full: NJ, CA, NC, VA, PA, MA Half: NC, SC, PA I'm thinking of doing NYC next year, so that would add another state to the mix. Definitely not trying for all 50 states. Getting into the NYC Marathon is super easy if you can run the times listed here...

I did the ATT full back in 2012 and loved it. I was supposed to the half in 2013, but was hurt. Most of the specators are other runners, which was weird but still fun. I loved loved loved the course. The full is a T, so mentally it was easy to break it down into manageable chunks. The...

    Law School is a sham

Charlotte Law pays non-profit law firms to hire their graduates for 6 months. They'll even rent out additional space and upfit it if your office can't handle the additional people. Since the attorneys don't start working until September, Charlotte Law can say they're employed full time in a job...

That's pretty much all I wear May-Sept. Too hot in Charlotte. Although I do the super short running shorts instead of the the spandex ones. Whether I should be wearing so little is immaterial because I'm most comfortable like that. I tried longer ones today and I liked them until they got...

Boston was strongly advocating against banditing this year, thus the fake bibs. I know for the 100th running, they said it was ok and just start in the back, but for this year they were all about no bandits. I was only following because my husband was running. I hadn't noticed the "no bandit"...
