haha probably fair, but as a Purdue fan as well, they almost lost their coach bc of the penny pinching AD who prevented Matt Painter from doing things like Danny is doing. So, someone deserves some sort of credit in the upper administration. Maybe not Wellman though, but someone!

Totally agree. Also, props to Wellman and overall athletic administration for giving Danny and staff the financial support to recruit kids from all over the country.

Ayo likely cares most (and can't blame him for doing so) about getting to the NBA. the "competing for championships" slant is kind of a moot point, in my opinion. Selling him on player development and readiness for the NBA is what Danny and staff are likely stressing.

Shit, the Blackhawks is a more important sports team to people in Chicago than Illinois basketball is. Probably Notre Dame football and Indiana basketball too, you could argue.

Nothing like an AAU hire to help with recruiting! Sort of TIC haha, because there's nothing technically wrong about it, and I know a ton of programs do it (see Mizzou). Thanks for providing that context though. Seems like Ayo is ILL's to lose.

A group of fan as nuts as Illinois fans? Lol I grew up and live in Chicago, and while the Illinois fanbase is a good one, there are plenty of other equal, if not better, college basketball fan bases. That said, I do think Ayo ends up at U of I.
